JumpStart Checking* is the Shell FCU account with a debit card and Digital Banking access for 6 to 15 year olds. This account is for those interested in teaching their children about responsible money management with their own debit card.
How is the account set up?
The parent/guardian establishing the account will have card controls to set spending limits, merchant controls and shared access to Digital Banking. Plus, easy options to transfer funds and setup automatic deposits.

Shell FCU is Federally insured by the National Credit Union Administration. Anyone who lives, works, worships, attends school, or regularly conducts business in Harris County, TX can bank with Shell FCU once a $5 savings account is established for membership. JumpStart Checking accounts are available to members age 16 and older who meet qualifying criteria. Minors age 6 to 15 years of age are eligible for convenience signer access which includes issuance of a debit card. Limit of two account owners allowed and a minor for each JumpStart Checking account. A TUTMA Savings account or minor Membership Savings account is required to be eligible for JumpStart Checking. For complete details ask a Shell FCU representative. *JumpStart Checking has an APY of 0.05%. Annual Percentage Yield: The APY applies only to the checking account. Minimum monthly balance of $2,000 required to earn an APY of 0.05%. APY may change before or after the account is opened.
